This is Mayor Karen Bass’ Office of Community Engagement. In celebration of Earth Day, tomorrow, Saturday April 26 from 8am-2pm, volunteers from across Los Angeles will come together to clean, green, and beautify neighborhoods throughout the city. This is an incredible opportunity for Angelenos to show up in service, make a positive impact, and represent our communities with pride.

2025 State of the City Address - Progress on Crime, Homelessness and Recovery Efforts:

With homelessness down for the first time in years, homicides at a multi-year low, and recovery after one of L.A.’s worst-ever natural disasters on track to be the fastest in state history, we can see the path to the citywide turnaround L.A. needs, Mayor Karen Bass says during her 2025 State of the City Address. Mayor Bass Release Balanced Budget Proposal FY 2025 - 2026:

In the face of downward economic trends, Mayor Karen Bass released her proposed budget for the Fiscal Year 2025-2026 today. It is balanced, and builds on successful strategies that have lowered both homelessness and crime since the Mayor was sworn in. It also contains common sense consolidations of related departments and other efforts to improve efficiency of city services. Click here to learn more.

Mayor Bass Highlights Progress Rebuilding the Heart of the Palisades Ahead of Expectations 100 Days Later:

Mayor Karen Bass highlighted the completion of debris removal at the Palisades Branch Library, which was destroyed in the January wildfires. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers cleared the property of all debris last week ahead of expectations following the Mayor’s call to prioritize public spaces in the debris removal operation. Unhoused Angelenos Move Inside with Supportive Services:

The Inside Safe program brought more than 250 people inside so far this year. More than 80 encampments have been addressed by the program. Inside Safe treats encampments as whole communities, offering housing and supportive services to all those living in the encampment. This comprehensive strategy saves lives and prevents encampments from returning. Click here to learn more.

BRINGING PEOPLE INSIDE THROUGH INSIDE SAFE

On March 25th, Council District 1, the Mayor’s Office of Community Engagement and the Mayor’s Inside Safe Team met with 45 - 50 constituents to discuss encampment concerns along Washington Blvd. next to the Rosedale Cemetery. The meeting, held at the Olympic Division, helped inform and coordinate an Inside Safe operation that took place days later. The purpose of the engagement was to directly hear community concerns, build trust, and collaboratively identify solutions - resulting in a targeted housing and outreach response and the successful operation pictured above.
