LA County Zachau Sediment Placement Site in Tujunga

Due to the recent wildfires and potential for future storms, LA County Public Works recently began work to remove sediment and debris from the West Ravine Debris Basin and Fern Debris Basin in Altadena to provide flood protection to downstream communities. Materials removed from the debris basins will be transported to the Zachau Sediment Placement in Tujunga.

In large part due to my advocacy and the community’s strong voices we ensured that Public Works will sample and test the material that is being transported to ensure public safety. The debris will now be analyzed for Asbestos, Metals, Petroleum Hydrocarbons and Volatile Organic Compounds. The results will be available in approximately one week and as the testing is happening, the hauling and placement will continue. I am committed to supporting community concerns regarding this site and encourage you to reach out to Jonathan King, 818.896.0594, [email protected] with any questions.

Are you sure you want to remove this?
