of water each on Saturday, November 16, 2024. Fourteen volunteers came out to help water the trees, some as young as four-years-old and as old as eighty-years of age.

Safe Traffic & Transportation Chairperson Pat Kramer puts together tree waterings, weedings and mulch enhancement every month or two to assist the trees that nobody else waters. In the past, Council District 7, Berkshire Hathaway Real Estate, The Sunland-Tujunga Chamber of Commerce and the DIY Home Center have sponsored these events, providing the water that sustains the trees that the city doesn’t water. Since last year, several trees have died leaving empty tree wells, which means hotter pavement, no shade, and less air purification.

We are now doing a Tree Adoption event where anyone who wants to can choose a tree from our virtual tree chart and commit to watering it with five gallons per week (10 in the hot months): https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=1K-i0YbM-2cd0kZcgDziuXHaYR4jrOCo&usp=sharing

Please contact Pat Kramer to let her know which tree you want to water or if your business wants to sponsor a future event. Then, you can look forward to seeing your tree thrive!  Pat can be reached at: [email protected].
