CA High Speed Rail Meeting Nov 6 & 7
Posted on 10/23/2023
Dear San Fernando Valley Stakeholder,
As you may recall, the California High-Speed Rail Authority (Authority) released the Draft Environmental Impact Report and Environmental Impact Study (EIR/EIS) for the Palmdale to Burbank Project Section in September 2022.
We are currently working toward the release of the Final EIR/EIS and wanted to let you know that we are planning to host an in-person community information and listening session in Pacoima. We will be sharing information and seeking input on potential improvements that are being considered to address local concerns and potential project impacts in Pacoima and Sun Valley that have been identified during the environmental study process.
This listening session will be held on:
• Date: Monday, November 6, 2023
• Time: 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
• Location: Pacoima City Hall – 13520 Van Nuys Blvd., Pacoima, CA 91331
In addition, we will host a virtual meeting on November 7, 2023 from 12-1 pm via Zoom for those who prefer to join us online.
Dial-In: 669-900-6833
Webinar ID: 824 8665 2308
Passcode: 876319
Both meetings will include Spanish interpretation.
We are inviting you and local neighborhood councils, local community-based organizations and others who have expressed interest in the project. You are also welcome to share this invitation with family, friends, neighbors, and colleagues.
All requests for reasonable accommodation and/or other language services must be made 72 hours prior to each meeting by calling (800) 630-1039. For TTY/TTD assistance, please call the California Relay Service at 711.
The Palmdale to Burbank Project Section will connect two key population centers in Los Angeles County by linking future multi-modal transportation hubs in Palmdale and Burbank with high-speed passenger rail service. Both of these stations were approved by the Authority Board of Directors as part of other project sections. This project would connect those approved stations. The Palmdale Station was approved by the Authority Board of Directors as part of the Bakersfield to Palmdale Project Section in August 2021, while the Burbank Airport Station was approved by the Authority Board of Directors as part of the Burbank to Los Angeles Project Section in January 2022. This project section will provide a critical link between the Bakersfield to Palmdale and the Burbank to Los Angeles Project Sections.
The Authority is the lead agency under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), and also under National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) effective as of July 23, 2019. The MOU is between the State of California and the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) under a program commonly known as NEPA assignment (the MOU assigned FRA’s NEPA responsibilities for the project to the State of California).
Thank you for your interest in the high-speed rail project. We look forward to continuing to work with you throughout this process. If you have any questions, please let us know. Thank you for your continued engagement.
Sincerely,
The Palmdale to Burbank Project Section Team
